Original steel Crittall frames gave the twentieth century some of its best-looking glazing — and some of its coldest rooms. The look never went out of style; the single glazing and thermal bridging did. Crittall-style aluminium keeps the fine black grid and loses the condensation.
We manufacture steel-look windows, doors and glazed screens in thermally broken aluminium with slim sightlines and applied or structural glazing bars that read exactly like the original. Matt black is the signature finish, but as with everything we make, any RAL colour is available.
The range covers the whole house: fixed and opening windows, single and French doors, and the internal glazed screens and room dividers that have made the style a fixture of kitchen extensions and broker-belt renovations alike.
The grid, done properly
The whole aesthetic lives or dies on bar proportions. We keep sightlines slim and space the grid to your elevation — square-ish panes, even margins, bars that line through between windows and doors. Send elevation sizes and we'll draw the grid before anything is made.

Thermally broken aluminium profiles and 28 mm double-glazed units mean these frames perform like contemporary glazing, not like the originals — warm edges, no weeping frames in January, and security hardware hidden within the slim profile.
Internal screens and dividers
Half the Crittall-style boom is indoors: glazed partitions between kitchen and hallway, shower screens, office fronts. We build internal screens to the same grid language as the external glazing, single- or double-glazed to suit.

What's the difference between Crittall and Crittall-style?
Crittall is a brand of steel-framed glazing dating back over a century. Crittall-style means the same slim black grid aesthetic built in modern thermally broken aluminium — which brings double glazing, better thermal performance and lower maintenance while keeping the look.
Are Crittall-style doors energy efficient?
Yes. Thermally broken aluminium profiles and 28 mm double-glazed units put these frames in line with contemporary glazing standards — the cold, condensation-prone behaviour of original steel frames doesn't apply.
Can you make internal Crittall-style screens?
Yes — glazed partitions, room dividers and internal doors are built to the same grid proportions as our external frames, single- or double-glazed to suit the space.
Do the bars line up between windows and doors?
They should, and with made-to-measure they can. Send us the elevation sizes together and we'll set out the grid so bars line through across every frame — the detail that separates convincing steel-look glazing from an approximation.
Is matt black the only colour?
It's the signature, not the rule. Every frame is powder-coated to order, so any RAL colour is available — deep bronze and off-black greens are increasingly popular alternatives.
